Visited Portugal with my son Kenan in 2109, although I had briefly crossed the Spanish/Portugese border briefly in 1989.

In Portugal, the capital city is Lisbon. There are approximately 11 million Portuguese living here, and the official languages are Portuguese and Mirandese. Roman Catholicism is the main religion practiced here.

When visiting Portugal, most tourists enjoy the beautiful beaches of Algarve, as well as the Ponte de Dom Luis I, a double-decked arch bridge that spans the Douro river in Porto. Porto, along with Lisbon and Sintra are also known for their bustling nightlife and monuments.

A fun fact about Portugal is that it includes the Azores and Madeira islands. No wonder it’s considered the surf capital of Europe!
